This page walks through when, why, and how to get the most out of each of the seven tools in All-in-One Toolbox. Rather than just explaining which button does what, we've tried to cover the real situations that call for each tool, the background behind why it works the way it does, and practical tips for using it well. 1. Getting the most out of the Instagram Blank Line Generator

If you've ever tried to add extra line breaks in an Instagram caption or comment to separate paragraphs, only to find they all collapse into one block once you post, you're not alone. Instagram automatically strips out any line that contains no visible characters at all. A line break by itself, with nothing typed on it, gets treated as empty and removed.

The workaround is to put a character on that line that's technically real but invisible to the eye. Our Instagram Blank Line Generator uses the Braille Pattern Blank character (U+2800). It exists as a genuine Unicode character, so Instagram sees the line as non-empty and leaves it alone, even though nothing appears on screen.

In practice, this trick shows up a lot in caption writing that has a poetic or reflective tone, where each sentence gets its own line for emphasis. It's also common in bio sections to visually separate different pieces of information, or in announcement-style posts where breaking information into distinct lines improves readability. That said, stacking too many blank lines can make a post feel unnecessarily long and push people to scroll past it, so somewhere between two and five lines tends to work best.

2. Image Resizer: picking the right dimensions

There are more reasons to resize an image than you might think. A blog post loads slowly because the original photo is too large. An online store requires product images in a specific format, like a 1000x1000px square. A social profile photo needs a particular aspect ratio. All of these come up constantly.

The single most important setting when resizing is "Keep aspect ratio." If you stretch or squeeze width and height independently, people and objects in the photo end up distorted. With aspect ratio locked, entering a width automatically calculates the matching height based on the original proportions, which avoids that problem entirely. If you genuinely need a fixed ratio, like a square thumbnail, turn the lock off, enter the values you need, and check the preview to make sure nothing important got cropped out.

As a rough guide: blog body images look sharp on most screens at around 800–1200px wide. A square Instagram post is typically 1080x1080px, and most platforms recommend at least 400x400px for profile photos. Sizing down too aggressively can look blurry on high-resolution displays, so it helps to decide where the image will actually be used before choosing dimensions.

Resizing alone will shrink file size somewhat, but for the best result, follow it up with the image compressor to optimize quality as well.

3. Image compression and website speed

Page load speed affects both user experience and search rankings directly — Google has explicitly named it a ranking factor, and studies have shown a large share of visitors abandon a page if it takes more than three seconds to load. In most cases, images make up the largest share of a page's total weight.

Compression reduces the actual amount of data in a file while keeping visible quality loss to a minimum. Photos typically contain fine color detail that's hard for the human eye to perceive anyway, and JPEG compression discards some of that redundant information to shrink the file. Dropping quality from 100% down to around 70–80% is usually barely noticeable to the eye, while often cutting file size nearly in half.

As a starting point, try 70–85% quality for photo-like images with lots of color variation, and 85–95% for screenshots or images containing text, then compare the results. Push compression too far and you'll start to see blocky artifacts along edges, so it's worth checking the preview after compressing rather than trusting the number alone.

If you've ever hit an email attachment size limit trying to send several photos, running them through the compressor first usually gets you under the limit without a noticeable quality hit.

4. When you actually need WebP conversion

WebP is an image format Google built specifically for the web, and at equivalent visual quality it typically produces files 25–35% smaller than JPEG, and often dramatically smaller than PNG. The gap is especially large for images that need a transparent background, where WebP tends to beat PNG by a wide margin.

WebP conversion pays off the most on blogs or store product pages built on platforms like WordPress or Shopify that are heavy with images — a single product page can easily contain dozens of images, and converting all of them to WebP can visibly shrink the total page weight. Compatibility is rarely an issue these days, since every major modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and recent versions of Safari) supports WebP natively.

One caveat: older image editing software may not open WebP files properly, so it's worth keeping your original files as-is and only creating WebP copies for whatever you're actually publishing online.

5. Character counting: why byte limits matter too

You've probably seen instructions like "keep this under 500 characters" on a cover letter form, a resume builder, or a government application page. What's less obvious is that some of these systems don't actually count characters — they count bytes. In UTF-8 encoding, an English letter typically takes 1 byte, while characters in Korean, Japanese, or Chinese usually take 3 bytes each. So a 500-character limit can behave very differently depending on which characters you're using.

This is exactly why you can end up in a situation where your character count is clearly under the limit, but the system still says you've gone over. Checking the byte count alongside the character count catches this before you hit submit. Our counter reports UTF-8 byte length specifically, which matches how most web-based input systems measure it.

Beyond character count, the tool also shows word count and line count, which is handy for estimating manuscript length or double-checking the line-break structure of a social post before you publish it.

6. QR codes: where and how to use them well

QR codes show up everywhere now — business cards, restaurant menus, event posters, product packaging. The most common use is turning a website URL or social handle into a code people can scan with their phone camera instead of typing out a long address.

A few things to watch for when printing a QR code: don't print it too small, or scanning gets unreliable — aim for at least 2cm x 2cm. When generating one, pick the largest available size (300px or up) if it's headed for print, and confirm it still looks crisp at print resolution. Also leave enough white space around the code; crowding it with other text or images right up to the edge can break scannability.

Once generated, download the code as an image file and drop it straight into your poster or business card design.

7. Live currency converter: what to check before paying abroad

Whether you're budgeting for an overseas purchase or planning a trip, having an accurate exchange rate handy makes it much easier to estimate what you'll actually spend. Our currency converter pulls daily-updated public exchange rate data and converts between currencies instantly.

One important caveat: the rate shown here can differ from what your bank or card issuer actually applies. This tool reflects something closer to the interbank reference rate, while real-world card transactions or currency exchange counters typically add a margin on top — usually somewhere around 1–3%. Treat this tool as a way to get a rough sense of cost, and double-check the final number with your card issuer's app or the exchange counter before completing a large transaction.

Rates move multiple times a day, so it's worth checking again right before a large exchange or payment rather than relying on a number you looked up earlier.
